About Inkclip
AI captions for short clips, made on your device. Your clip is never uploaded. No account, no watermark, even at the download.
What this is
Inkclip is a set of small, free tools, each for one job: generating captions for a short clip automatically, burning in a subtitle file you already have, turning a video into a GIF, building a GIF from a set of images, getting a GIF back out as a video, trimming, changing speed, reversing, cropping, resizing and compressing. Every tool does its work on your own device, in your browser. There’s no upload step, because there’s no server on the other end waiting to receive your file.
The idea is simple: you have one clip that needs one specific change, you need it back in under a minute, and you shouldn’t have to install anything, make an account, or accept a watermark to get it. That’s the whole product.
The name
The name is the idea: ink for the words, clip for the video. Ink words onto short clips, right on your device.
How it’s free
Inkclip is supported by advertising, shown on the same pages as the tools, never inside the tool’s controls or between you and your download. There’s no subscription, no daily limit dressed up as a “free trial,” and no feature held back behind a paywall. Running the tools costs us very little because the processing happens on your device, not on a server we pay for by the minute, and that’s also most of why nothing needs to be uploaded in the first place.
Who runs it
Inkclip is run by the Inkclip project. It’s a small, independently run site, not a division of a larger company, and not affiliated with any of the tools or platforms its pages mention.
Privacy, in short
Files you pick are processed on your device and never sent to us. The one exception is the auto-captioning tool, which downloads a small speech-recognition model to your device the first time you use it. The model comes from our file storage, but your clip and its transcript still never leave your browser. The full detail, tool by tool, is in the privacy policy.
Accessibility
On Safari, macOS leaves buttons and file-choose controls out of the Tab order by default. That’s Safari’s default on every site, not ours. Turn on Settings > Advanced > ‘Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage’ (or macOS Full Keyboard Access) to include them. VoiceOver reaches these controls either way. With either one on, every tool here can be operated from the keyboard alone.
Contact
Questions, a bug report, or a copyright concern about how a tool behaves: hello@inkclip.app. We read every message, though as a small site we can’t promise a fast turnaround on every one.
